Recorded April 2013.

First of all, this is NOT a Mash-up. I played every part and did not use the original recording. I always play all the parts!

There are a lot of interesting things about this mix...

I do have a little bit of history with Robyn. I did a remix of "Show Me Love" when she first came out. It was available on the promo 12". If I do meet her one day, I would probably get all nerdy and say, "I did a mix for you! … …. Ok. Nice to meet you."

"Dancing On My Own" was my song for the summer of 2010. So many great memories! And that's why this song is dedicated to my friend Jeff (I always think of him when I hear it).

I came across the vocals one day and thought I would try to do my own club mix of the song. I didn't get to it until this month and I ended up NOT doing a club mix. Surprise!

When playing around with a piano sound while the vocals were playing, I started the "Don't Stop Believing" piano riff. It worked! Even the chorus worked. There was just one problem: me.

I have been playing "Don't Stop Believing" my whole life. That means I know it in E Major. "Dancing On My Own" is in F# Major. I couldn't get my hand to play it in the new key, so I ended up transposing Robyn's vocals down then working on the mix. When I was done, I transposed my arrangement up to her key.

I went for a straight-up pop mix trying to be faithful (ly. lol) to the original Journey song. Made a few arrangement changes and now Robyn's song sounds completely different.

Kudos to both Robyn and Journey. Robyn knows how to write good pop songs. And Journey (w/ Steve Perry) is my all-time favorite rock band. "Don't Stop Believing" is a classic.

Hope you enjoy it!
